St Johnstone v Clyde 25-03-08

The Daily Punt

..I would need to check but I believe St Johnstone will be drawing dead and Clyde have done ok v St Johnstone. If i was getting 8/13 or better..nope make that nearly 4/6 then i might be interested in St Johnstone but definetly not at 1/2. Maybe im just expecting too much from a Clyde side that can be tenacious on their day. Actually im sure clyde have never played 2 bad games in a row this season either. Theyve got bounce-back-abilty. Maybe im just overly cautious Shibuya but ive seen plenty of better 1/2 shots than St Johnstone are tomorrow. I havent even looked at the league tables mind but i would say its getting nearly mathimatically impossible for St Johnstone to go up.

..The Clyde side I saw just after Xmas was the worst I can remember in this league but I thought you did ok on your last trip to Perth and indeed it took a fluke from Kenny Deuchar to salvage us a point. From our point of view, an early goal could be crucial as Clyde still have a number of decent players (McGregor, Higgins etc...) and if we don't get a goal, confidence could return. I thought we looked jaded in the latter stages of yesterday's match so wouldn't be against McInnes freshening things up a bit and giving the likes of Moon and Weatherston a start. McBreen and Hardie are back in training so I wonder if they might feature as well. I don't think Greg Cameron is as bad as a lot of our support make out but we'd only be benefiting Dundee United if he was involved. Must be an injury doubt over Rocco Quinn as well following his early substitution yesterday.

St Johnstone have Peter MacDonald, Rocco Quinn and Goran Stanic doubtful for Clyde's visit on Tuesday. Jody Morris is out - his wife is giving birth - as are injured Martin Hardie, Stuart McCaffrey, Jamie McCluskey, Daniel McBreen and Andy Lawrie. Sean Fagan, Jimmy Gibson and Marvyn Wilson are doubtful for Clyde, who will definitely be without Graig McKeown. But Chris Higgins, Iain Campbell, James Gibson and Patrick Clarke will all return from suspension.

ST JOHNSTONE boss Derek McInnes fears his former Rangers team-mate Jorg Albertz could lead Clyde to a shock victory in Perth tonight. With John Brown, Andy Goram, Gary McSwegan and Albertz on board at Broadwood, McInnes admits it will be an Ibrox old-timers reunion when the sides meet at McDiarmid. But he has singled out German veteran Albertz as the Clyde dangerman and said: "Everyone in Scottish football knows how dangerous he is with deadballs and shots from 35 yards. But his choice of pass and vision was always special.

"I wasn't too surprised when Bomber tempted him to Clyde. Knowing these guys well, they'll get the players fired up for this game, despite a setback against Queen of the South. "It must be great for the Clyde youngsters to work alongside a player of Jorg's class. They can only benefit from the experience."

McInnes has a crisis on his hands with Rocco Quinn, Peter MacDonald and Jody Morris joining six players already sidelined. The latter has been given leave of absence for the birth of his child.

Clyde are without a win in six matches but Brown believes they can surprise Saints. He said: "We need to turn it around or the teams ahead of us will be too far ahead. "It doesn't get much harder than a trip to Perth but we're looking forward to it. "While our home record has been poor our away record has kept us in it. This is our game in hand over Morton and this gives us a chance to peg them and Livingston back."
