Welcome to the world's tightest league... The Coca-Cola Championship... well, it's tight for sure. There may be one or two bets worth thinking about for this round of fixtures though so let's have a look.
Scunthorpe - Sheff Wed @ 2.95 Pinnacle Sports
Interesting one first up. You may have read me raving a little about Sheffield Wednesday the other day; how well they were playing and how hard they were battling. Well hats off to them as the 1-1 draw with Coventry the other night saw them finally move out of the relegation spots. They have to keep it going though and Scunthorpe looks the ideal place to pick up a precious 3 points, sitting 2nd bottom of the home table as well as overall.
The home side are all but doomed to league one next season and the manager has admitted they simply aren't good enough (the tables and stats already tell us that man!). I don't think we should expect them to have the same impetus in this one as the Owls and that 2.95 looks pretty darn good where I'm sitting. Well, it's no' bad like.
Colchester - Ipswich Town @ 2.25 Expekt
Oh my. Am I going for another away win already? Seems so. And a derby match too. Colchester are history though. Nothing can save them now. Bottom overall, bottom of the form table, bottom of the home table and defeat tomorrow sends them down. To be fair, they've been battling gamely and gave West Brom a hell of a scare recently before succumbing to an injury time goal and losing a 4-3 thriller. They do have a terrible habit of collapsing towards the end of games unfortunately and I feel they may finally be resigned to their fate.
Ipswich on the other hand are still looking to secure a playoff place so really need to go for it and they went some way to improving their appalling away record with a deserved 1-2 win at Scunthorpe last time on their travels. If they could have transferred even a little of their home form to away matches they'd be sitting pretty right now but hopefully they're finally getting the hang of it. I don't expect Colchester to go down without a fight of course but Ipswich's superior quality and Colchester's inability to last the pace could and should seal their fate. Farewell my friends.
